The town of Rothesay has 2 small supermarkets. The main Co-op supermarket, which is located on Bridge Street, offers online shopping with a delivery service, however, as this is a smaller supermarket some special dietary items may not be available and you may need to supply your own. They also supply kindling and firewood. There is also a small delicatessen on the Gallowgate.
There are a variety of gift shops and galleries showcasing local arts and crafts, pop into the Castle Gallery and the Discovery Centre. Make sure you visit the Bute Yard Rothesay, as well as being home to Bute Distillery and Brewery, it also holds a fantastic outdoor market on the first Sunday of the month where you can buy the best of local produce and artwork. Great for Christmas shopping too.
There are plenty of cafes available in Rothesay and the surrounding areas for a coffee and a treat, Helmi's Patisserie in particular is worth a visit. Several restaurants and takeaways too - have a look at the links in 'Places To Eat and Drink'. A short drive from the cottage is Ettrick Bay Tearoom, or you can take a walk and work up an appetite for lunch or a delicious baked treat.
